Weigh-In Week #1

Saturdays will be my weigh-in days.  I'm officially down 10 pounds in the last 10 days.  Six to seven of those pounds while eating Bistro.  A good start!

Box#2 Arrives!

Box# 2 arrived today. Everything is nice and frozen. In fact, I brought it in the house, but left it in the cooler until after I eat lunch.

Also got a package from Forever21 today. First time to order from their plus-size line, Faith21. Pretty pleased -- 2 of the 3 shirts fit great and were exactly what I expected. If you haven't checked them out, you should! Cheap trendy stuff and they seem to get new stuff pretty often (like since I placed my order!). Don't be scared off by the sizing; look at the actual measurements in inches to decide. Their size numbers are one size off most stores. What they call a 15-16 is really more like an 18/20 and the 17-18 is more like a 20/22.

Day 5

Breakfast(1010am): Forgot to defrost stuff last night.  Overmicrowaved bagel and eggwhite sounded like a recipe for disaster.  Instead, I ate a Bagel Thin (100 cal) with 1.5 TBS cream cheese (75 cal) and a raspberry yogurt (170cal).  (7 points)

Lunch (200pm):  I was aiming for 1pm and was pretty hungry, but I didn't cave in at IKEA... those cinnamon rolls smell soooo good!  I've been carrying around an entire frozen meal and a 20oz bottle of water to avoid such an incident, my purse weighs like 50 pounds. :D  Arroz Con Pollo from Day 2 for lunch today -- way to follow the menu right?  It was decent.  Chicken was good, flavors were good, cilantro was definitely present -- could have been mostly scraped off if you hate cilantro -- corn was good, and the rice was good.  Somehow it didn't really come together though.  Maybe because the whole thing was pretty watery.  I may not have cooked it long enough, but I was afraid of overcooking the chicken.  Next time, I'd cook partway and then take the chicken out to finish the cooking.  I forgot to take a pic right out of the micro -- below is after I cut the chicken up and tried to mix the excess liquid in.  I also added a small cut up fresh tomato and some green onion because they were in the fridge.  I had a can of Diet Coke with lunch.
Snack (530pm):  Other half of Wendy's salad leftover from yesterday. 250cal/12g fat/3g fiber/688mg salt (5points)
Dinner(800pm):  Took the broccoli out because pasta was still pretty frozen.  Microwaved pasta for 2 minutes.  Put broccoli back. Microwaved for one more minute.  Plated and ate.  Pretty darn good.  Would hav eliked more brocoli.  Put about a TBS of shredded cheese on top (27.5/2.25gfat/0.5point).  The sauce is good, just a little bit spicy.  The penne has a weird texture on the surface, but that could be typical of wheat penne.  I don't regularly have it.  The texture wasn't bad, just unexpected.  All in all, a good dinner and a lot of food.

(845pm - 915pm) Walked the dogs, just under 1.5 miles.  Not a real athletic walk, but a walk none the less!

Day 4

Breakfast(11am): Spinach omlette with sweet potato. Liked the spinach and sweet potato. The eggs were so-so and the hollandaise sauce was no good. It didn't sauce down. It stayed like fluffy orange stuff with little flavor. I sprinkled the egg mix with a little less that a TBS of shredded cheese, then mixed it all together. Edible.

Snack (1:45pm): Choc Pretzel Blast Bar WW (70cal) Have a headache today. Ate breakfast late because of fasting for bloodwork. Also started meds today. And no caffeine today, yet.  [Headache went away after lunch, food and diet coke helped!]

Lunch (300pm): In a hurry for a 3pm online meeting at home -- didn't want to hassle with BMD meal. Also the shrimp isn't appealing to me. I should turn off the shellfish, but I wanted to try it first. Anyways, stopped at Wendy's for a Chicken Apple Pecan Salad.  [I'm not counting this as a "fast food" trip (see goals) because no french fries were consumed!  I did count the $ into restaurant $ goal.] Ate half now with half the pecans and 1/3 of one packet of dressing. I really don't see how someone could use two whole packets -- all you'd taste is the dressing! Stats as eaten: 250cal/12g fat/3g fiber/688mg salt (5points)  I realized by the end of the day, that I had room to eat the whole thing, but I was pretty satisfied after half.  I'm trying to focus hunger levels and I was saving the other half for later.

Dinner(715pm): omg.  I could eat this dinner every day -- well, maybe every week.  It was sooo good.  The chicken was good, penne wasn't overdone, the spinach and feta added a lot of flavor, and the eggplant was a great mix-in.  Totally satisfied.  I did pull the eggplant out of the microwave halfway through the cooking time.  This was the first meal where I realized that I would have finished the leftovers if they had been in the kitchen... I wanted more, even though I was pretty full.  That's one of the benefits of BMD -- there wasn't any more!

The eating every three hours thing seems to be working pretty well. I force myself to tough it out if I'm hungry and it's never very hard because it's only like an hour or so.  Only concern now is that I don't seem to be getting enough calories, only 1000/day the last two days -- partly because I'm not snacking big.  Also, I've been a little thrown off by other activities the last two days in the mornings.  I don't feel overly hungry because of it, but I know it's important to keep the calorie count reasonable.  I'll have to pay more attention to snacks.  Box#2 arrives tomorrow!

Snack (1000pm): 1/2 cup of fat free cottage cheese (70cal/0g fat/.5g fiber/300mg sod) and 1 large pluot (80cal/0g fat/3g fiber/0mg sod). (2points)

Day 3

Breakfast (915am):  Sorta nervous this morning, didn't feel like eating a huge breakfast, so I had a peach yogurt. (160/1.5gfat/0gfiber/85mg sodium 4%)  Saved the planned one -- it looks pretty good.

Lunch (12pm):  The beef wrap ended up being sort of like a burrito.  Seasoned ground beef with some cheese and a little bit of rice.  Didn't taste any cilantro or pepper.  Maybe it was a replacement?  It was good though - I enjoyed the beef, cheese and tortilla.  The creamed fresh spinach was... odd.  I really like steamed spinach, for reals, I do.  This was more like a puffed up spinach puree.  It was odd.  However, the burrito came out a little dry and the spinach was a bit wet... so I dumped them together and it was perfect.  Really, I know it looks weird, but I liked it a lot.  I also added some chopped fresh tomato and a little green onion.
Snack (345pm): WW Choc Pretzel Mini Bar
Dinner(730pm):  I was ready to eat dinner at 530, but forced myself to wait until 7pm.  I'm trying to eat something every three hours.  Normally, I would have found something to eat and then eaten some more at 7 or 8 or even 9.  Part of what made it easier to wait was knowing that there was a full-on meal waiting for me -- portions are pretty big. That, and the idea that if I ate at 530, there was no way I could make it to bedtime with out more food.   That hunger probably helped flavor this meal.  It's not going to be a favorite, but it's okay.  I didn't think I was going to like the pouch meals (versus the trays), but it was nice to be able to seperate for cooking time -- I let the chicken go longer.  And while I didn't want to get a plate dirty, it did help me realize that there was a lot more food in the pouch than I thought.  The chicken was good, not too dry (though I tend to like it on the dryer side.)  The veggies were standard frozen fare, but with yellow carrots!  The rice was pretty atrocious -- really dry and chewy.  Pretty bland night, but definitely passable with the addition of some BBQ sauce.
Daily Total: 900cal/22.5gfat  Too low!  But I wasn't too hungry...

Day 2

Breakfast (915am):  Thawed in the refrigerator overnight.  Microwaved for 3 minutes.  Tasted better than it looks.  The turkey sausage was spicy, the texture was a little overprocessed.  The crepes were good, the filling was a bit overdone.  The berry sauce was great!

Snack (    ): None

Lunch (2pm): 1/2 Salad from Pluto's ($6) -- Lettuce, beets, apple, peach, tomato, cucumber, edamame, garbanzo beans.  1/2 Tbs balsamic vinagrette + extra balsamic.

Lunch II (3pm): Other half of salad.  1/2 Tbs balsamic vinagrette + extra balsamic. and 20 dark choc M&Ms

Snack (545pm): 100 cal BagelTHin with 1Tbs CreamCheese

Dinner (8pm):  Decently good.  Meat has good texture and sauce.  The potatoes were a little funky -- dried out/stale tasting.  The onions, carrots and peas were good, not overcooked.  As usual, I liked it better once I mixed it all together.  Pretty full after dinner.

So far, I'm liking this system okay.  Food's pretty good.  I'm not dying of hunger from portion size, but I am ready to eat by the next meal.  I'm thinking less about what to eat and more about when -- eating on a better schedule.  Also thinking more about hunger level.

Day 1

Breakfast (930am):  Thawed in the refrigerator overnight and microwaved for 2 minutes.  Might have needed a little longer as the eggs/ham area was a bit wet.  I'm not a big egg fan, but this was not terrible for a frozen egg omelet with no cheese etc.  The ham was good -- good texture, a little salty.  The whole thing was great once I stacked it on a BagelThin and made a sandwich.  I know, I know, but BagelThins are only 100 calories.  The apple side was good, sweet and cinnamony.

Snack (100pm): Sunnyside Raspberry Yogurt (170cal/1.5gfat/0gfiber)
Lunch (230pm):  Wasn't terribly hungry yet, but timing was such that I at lunch at 230.  Meal was still partially frozen though it had been in refrigerator since previous night.  Microwaved for 3 minutes.  Removed plastic film and decided to do 45 more seconds because it looked watery.  Turned out to be pretty good.  Especially after I mixed the spaghetti squash and sauce with the chicken and peppers.  The spaghetti squash was a bit bland, but that's sorta what it is.  And it DID taste fresh and vegetabley.  I was pleased by the texture of the chicken -- seems like a real breast and not some mucked together puck of chicken parts.

Dinner (730pm): Out with friends ($18 burger/fries/drink).  Will save the extra meal of Pork Tenderloins for another day...

Totally guessing... 2500cal?  695cal before dinner, but a big burger, a few fries, vodka tonic and 2 slices of bread from basket with one pat of butter... eh.
